Easter is an explosive time to visit with a week long fiesta of floats and processions, more bustle, excitement and colour than ever. Locals hardly sleep for the duration and family groups of several generations can be seen partying until the early hours. After seven days of partying a finale of fireworks announces that this party is over, for now.
The snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada give a dramatic backdrop to this cultural and exciting city, where you can ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon. If a little more or less activity is required try a course in Flamenco, dancing, singing or guitar, these are the roots of many of Spain’s best performers, and there is still a large gypsy community on Sacromonte Hill.
Other alternatives could be Spanish language, cookery or what about wine tasting classes? Whatever your pleasure Granada has plenty to see and do and whether you stay a weekend or a month it’s a fascinating place that infuses wonder, passion and a desire to return.
