Nightlife in La Paz is found along the friendly and safe Malecón. Palm lined, and paralleling the shore, this attractive strip runs about 5 km. Choose an open-air restaurant to watch the activity from, or sample the wares of the street vendors – Baja’s fish tacos are famous for good reason. Indulge in a paleta from one of the many ice cream stores. My favourite of these fresh fruit Popsicle like treats is the strawberry, dipped in chocolate.
You can spend the evening people watching, walking, or wander in and out of the clubs and bars. For the feeling of old Hollywood glamour, visit the Los Arcos hotel and lounge. The lounge brings back the days when the likes of Bing Crosby and Desi Arnaz had homes in the area.

Exhale, you’re not alone:
Marina de La Paz is one of those places that gringo visitors flock to in La Paz. With the comfortable Dockside café that over looks the water, and English-speaking office staff who are equipped to answer any question, this can be a comfortable place for orientation as well as a hearty and familiar meal. “Where can you find a Spanish class?” “Which theatre has folkloric dance?” Or, if you are ready for an adventure that will take you even further away; “Which yachts in the bay are looking for crew?” These are all questions the staff will happily answer, and if they can’t, they will point you in the right direction.
