When my husband left and I filed for divorce, talked and whined my self raw with friends, family, clergy and therapists, read healing books and burned memories - a painful but necessary process for someone like me who has a hard time letting go - I headed for Monterey.

Monterey is the kind of place where one can EXpress oneself without having to comply with particular standards. After a respite, in sweats I headed to the forever happenings in The Peninsula and Warf; lots to do for a lot or for just a backpack and picnic lunch in a quiet cove, beach park, or amid the hustle and bustle. The next day in a favorite outfit, I visited art galleries, haute couture shops, and one of the many fine restaurants.
There is much to do or nothing but relax. Daydream at a friendly cafe, shop for bargains, and dine surrounded by views of the Peninsula. Take a book to the shore or a layback bicycle ride by quaint streets. Scuba-dive, kayak, surf, sail, fish, horseback ride, or hike; trails are plentiful as are events. When ready to EXorcise the most scenic coastlines from Carmel to Seaside wait with adventure or peaceful and splendid places where one can shout laugh or cry, inside or out. Roads and sand that open to romance or repose on shore, the peer, or sea amid magnificent views where by day waves call and by night stars beckon. Colored by the sounds of waves and music under the sun or a splendid moon, the scent of ocean mingles with infinite fun, food, and frolic. In Carmel, one can encounter movie stars. EXplore during the day into the night; play in the surf or at a golf course before going to a spa or shop at the labyrinth of shops that line streets. Oases of warm days and cool nights that has become one of the finest wine regions in the world. Monterey is a hotbed for artists and culture.
