Guide to Vancouver - Part 1

Vancouver Ex Rated City GuideBy Diane Selkirk~

Nestled between the sea and mountains, this is both a nurturing and healing place to visit as well as the perfect place to get active and explore. Ringing much of the city the seawall offers many options. You can begin your journey by leaving one of the busy shopping districts, such as Denman Street or Granville Island, then strolling seaward to tranquility. Once you’re away from the crowds, you can choose a quiet spot all your own; to relax with a book, soak up the view, or beach comb for shells. Stop for a coffee in one of the many neighbourhoods along the route – In Vancouver a welcoming shop is never more than a few steps away. Ambitious wanderers can join a yoga class at Kits Beach, go for a swim at Second Beach or Kits Beach pools, or take a water taxi to a museum.

Out there and active – Express yourself:
The Grouse Grind is a popular and busy trail that has become a favourite with woman hikers throughout the region. This is a demanding 2.9 km (1.8 mile) hike that takes you 853 metres (2,800 feet) up Grouse Mountain. Average hikers take about 1.5 hrs to complete the hike and the fastest time by a woman is 32:54. At the top you’ll feel powerful. Celebrate your accomplishment by taking in the stunning view then treating yourself to lunch at the café. The return trip down the mountain can be made on the Skyride for $5.
